What are GLABELLAR lines?

This is a medical term used to describe the two vertical lines that form over time in between your brows from frowning or concentrating or squinting.  Some people call these the “11” or eleven lines.

What is the best treatment for glabellar lines?

The easiest and quickest way to truly visibly make a difference in glabellar lines is with injection of a neuromodulator like Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport, Xeomin, etc.

Will Botox get rid of glabellar lines?

If injected correctly, a neuromodulator will soften the intensity of the contraction of the muscles that cause the glabellar lines over time.  Depending on how deep the line is at rest when you are not contracting the muscle, the injection can make them vanish after one injection session (if your lines are very soft at rest) or make them less visible and softer (if your lines are super etched in at rest then they will need multiple consecutive sessions to take effect over time).

Can you prevent glabellar lines?

You can absolutely prevent glabellar lines!  Start early and stay consistent with a neuromodulator injection and you will never get them.  That’s my goal!

What other areas can you treat with neuromodulators?

There are so many areas – beyond the forehead, glabella, and eyes (crows), that you can treat with neuromodulators!  Off label but super popular areas include the sides of the nose (bunny lines), brows (for brow lift), lower eyelids, lips, chin (who likes the “peau d’orange” dimpled look?), downward corners of the mouth (depressor anguli oris), masseters (for those who grind teeth, TMJ, and also for slimming of the face especially if your face is baseline more square; be forewarned that this does require more units though because this is a big strong muscle), temporalis (for those with tension headaches around the temples or those who experience pain from clenching too hard), jawline, crepey neck, platysmal bands of neck (longitudinal vertical bands that stick out)… and for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) for the underarms, palms, and soles!
